This past summer, I had an amazing opportunity to intern abroad in the vibrant city of London! I interned at a Communications and PR agency called Capsule Comms. They specialize in the beauty and wellness industries and represent brands such as Hero, Batiste, Briogeo, Bubble, Viviscal, and many more. My two-month immersion in the UK’s PR culture has left a lasting impact, offering insights into the numerous benefits of interning abroad.

Living and working in a foreign country exposed me to a new way of life, culture, and traditions. Being able to recognize this and adapt helps you develop cultural intelligence. Immersing yourself in diverse environments enables you to gain a deeper understanding of various perspectives and gives you an appreciation for cultures different from your own.

I was very lucky to be warmly welcomed into the Capsule Comms family! Through that, I was able to create connections on an international level. Networking is crucial in the professional world and opens doors to many opportunities. So why not do it internationally? This allows you to broaden your professional horizons beyond borders, different business practices, and global market nuances.
3. Stands-Out on Resume
It’s one thing to have field experience on your resume, but doing it internationally is a huge plus. The PR industry expands beyond borders. Not only do you stand out but it shows employers that you have valuable skills such as adaptability, cross-cultural communication, global perspectives, and openness to new challenges. Putting yourself in an international setting shows your resilience and willingness to work in diverse environments.
4. Lifelong Memories
Interning abroad was an experience that I will never forget. I had not only professional but also personal growth. I fostered new friendships that will last me a lifetime. I even met a few contestants from Love Island at an event we hosted! Interning abroad is a life-changing experience everyone should have an opportunity to do!
